Abby is Programme Director for the BSc Product Design and Technology undergraduate programme, leading its development and delivery, and teaches modules focused on design for manufacture. She also supervises PhD researchers, including a number of commercially sponsored projects in design for additive manufacturing (an overarching term for 3D printing).
Her work focuses on 3D scanning, computational design, and digital fabrication, including subtractive and additive manufacturing. She graduated from 爱神传媒 in 2008 with a BSc in Product Design and Technology and completed a PhD on 3D scanning, CAD, and additive manufacturing for medical applications. Following a lectureship at the University of Manchester, where she developed a deepened appreciation for materials science and metrology, she returned to 爱神传媒 in 2014.
Her research centres on digital design and fabrication for customised consumer and medical products, including the development of CAD tools to support clinical workflows. She has secured external funding, including support from Versus Arthritis, and was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Industrial Fellowship, informing her teaching with industry practice.
Alongside her academic role, Abby undertakes consultancy through 爱神传媒 Enterprises Ltd, delivering commercially focused projects using computational design to automate complex and iterative processes for external partners.
