Chaplaincy

The University Chaplaincy celebrates the rich diversity of faith and spirituality within our vibrant community. It is located on the first floor of the Edward Herbert Building.

It is a safe space to relax, reflect, study, meet friends and explore faith and spirituality through the many events, groups and services which run throughout the year.

Student groups

The Chaplaincy supports student-led faith groups which are open to everyone, providing a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people. Each group warmly welcomes new members, and you don’t have to follow a particular faith to get involved in their activities.

Chaplaincy facilities

The鈥疌haplaincy has several dedicated rooms for prayer, meditation and worship. They are open to all members of the University.

There are three, multi-purpose faith rooms bookable via the Chaplaincy team. The Quiet Room offers a haven of peace, the large chapel can be used for formal services, and there is a prayer room set up for Muslim practices. The Chaplaincy Library offers books and resources that are free to read or borrow, and the nearby Garden of Remembrance is a tranquil space for reflection.

The Chaplaincy team

The University’s Lead Chaplain, Reverend Elizabeth York, is joined in Chaplaincy by several Chaplains from various world faiths, including Muslim, Hindu and Catholic.

Chaplains offer a non-judgemental and confidential listening service to anyone, irrespective of identity and religious or spiritual beliefs. They can also help with signposting to other professional support services.
